mikelopez: Thanks for the script. I got it working, but I had to change "/proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness" to "/proc/acpi/video/VID/LCD/brightness" - changing "VGA" to "VID" made it work on my Dell Inspiron E1505. Hope your fix can shed some light on the bug.
