I seems that Gutsy has overall problems with the RaLink Chipset (or the driver development seems to be the actual problem), so could it be that your problem isn't a problem connecting to hidden access points with NM, but a problem connecting at all. Have any of you tested if it is possible to connect to your access point with the SSID NOT hidden ?
