Hi Simon, it is a long time ago and I remember finding on the internet that other people with the same hardware suffered from the same problem so since then I mostly booted Windows but after about a year ago (and lots of upgrades), the same Ubuntu installation didn't freeze anymore and now I use preferably Ubuntu.
