I am very concerned about this issue. I use Ubuntu on my laptop as my primary OS and I work with it. Even if we all back up in case something happens with our hard drives, this issue is serious enough. I wouldn't use "wishlist" for something that breaks hardware, especially when it's been confirmed and this bug profile has been logged in Launchpad for over a year. I can't recommend my friends to install Ubuntu on their laptops knowing there's a bug like this.
