Public bug reported: Having upgraded from Ubuntu 7.04 to Ubuntu 7.10 just the other day, I've noticed that the gksu thing for doing administrative tasks seems to have an annoying problem.
For example, if I start Synaptic, it'll come up with the gksu prompt for my password. If I enter my password and click "OK", it pauses for a while, with the password prompt box still there (and seemingly unresponsive) and the desktop still faded. It's paused long enough for me to wonder if it had hung/frozen permanently. Usually, so far, it eventually disappeared, and things have proceeded as normal, though there was one occasion when I resorted to killing the X server. My system is a Dell Inspiron 530n that came with Ubuntu 7.04 preinstalled. I upgraded to 7.10 just the other day by clicking the upgrade button in the update manager thingy. Also, I've got the Xubuntu packages installed from the repositories, as I prefer the Xubuntu flavour. Oh, and I'm using the restricted nVidia driver, because I'm a bad boy. ** Affects: gksu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gksu pauses for a while when clicking "OK" or "Cancel" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157937 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
