To make this boot order change permanent, you have to repair the EFI.
If you can access to the any sort of OS on the internal disc, you can install a 
newer version of Ubuntu to the another partition.

This dualboot creation is universal, not just for a specific laptop model.
If you have any inportant data on your working OS, I suggest you to make a 
backup before re-partitiong the disc.
