Public bug reported: Since kernel 2.6.17-7, the boot parameter in /boot/grub/menu.lst is set to /dev/sda1. Of four machines that are running latest Edgy, only one will boot (it is SATA).
On the remaining machines, I have the manually change /dev/sda1 to /dev/hda1 to get the machines to boot. I believe that this is related to kernel changes around SATA/PATA from 2.6.17-7. This bug is showing up in a lot of forum threads and is affecting a number of Edgy testers. I suspect that there are a number of bugs around the symptoms as well. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- [Edgy] Wrong boot disk parameter since 2.6.17-7 https://launchpad.net/bugs/61578 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
