to Blue : I agree. These laptop-mode aggressive power management defaults seem to be quite insane. You and I suffered from this problem because of laptop- mode. Some harddrives might have insane aggressive power management defaults in their firmware (I have no idea how much harddrives would have insane defaults (windows might correct such insane defaults making these drives less visible).
