Exotic? I am a developer and run several different flavors of Linux for testing. I have done this for years for files accessible to all flavors.
If the file ownership and permissions are OK, I think I should be able to access them by default. Apparmor seems to be configured to another default - deny access to my owned files if not under $HOME. Is this a good default?
