When I delete .config/menus/applications.menu and link it to /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu it works again - but alacarte does not. I even tried to copy a working applications.menu file from another computer but it still doesn't work. The obvious thing is I'm running a standard ubuntu on the working one and ubuntu studio on the other.
