Public bug reported: Test environment: Ubuntu 7.10 + latest updates Date of test: Oct 26 2007 Desktop environment: GNOME ProblemType: Crash Architecture: amd64 ExecutablePath: /usr/sbin/nm-applet Package: network-manager-gnome 0.6.5-0ubuntu10 PackageArchitecture: amd64
I am using a Lenovo T61 laptop and nm-applet crashes pretty consistently when I left-click the icon in system tray and then click 'Connect to Other Wireless Network...'. I compiled a debug version of nm-applet and backtrace showed that it crashed when calling a function in gtk+ library. Then I compiled a debug version of gtk+ libraries and get the backtrace as attached. Another thing to note is that I found there is a 'gtk+2.0-2.12.0/debian/patches' dir in the source package I got by 'apt- get source'. I also compiled another version of gtk+ libraries without applying those additional patches in the 'gtk+2.0-2.12.0/debian/patches' dir and crashes of nm-applet never happen again. Yet another thing to note is that it seems crashes do not happen either when running nm-applet under the contorl of Valgrind. I tried at least 30+ times and did not see any crash. ** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nm-applet crashes with SIGSEGV https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157355 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
