Public bug reported:

I have to use the acpi=off boot paramater to successfully boot the Gutsy
7.10 final live CD on a Compaq Presario F600. The computer uses an AMD
mobile Sempron and an nForce chipset. Using the Slax Standard edition, I
have no problems. (http://www.slax.org/)

I've tried the following boot parameters with no success:
idle=poll, acpi_use_timer_override, acpi_skip_timer_override, noapic, nolapic,
acpi=noirq, pci=noacpi, pci=biosirq pnpbios=off, irqpoll,

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
