Public bug reported: Binary package hint: update-notifier
Steps to reproduce (only happens if there are some updates available): * just after boot, open synaptic * reload packages information * check if some updates are available, but do nothing * wait a while * update notifier pops up to inform about the available updates, and suggests to open the update manager, but synaptic is already opened. This happens too when upgrading from feisty to gutsy (update-notifier pops up when the update-manager is downloading the new gutsy packages info). I believe this is quite confusing. ** Affects: update-notifier (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Binary package hint: update-notifier Steps to reproduce (only happens if there are some updates available): * just after boot, open synaptic * reload packages information * check if some updates are available, but do nothing * wait a while * update notifier pops up to inform about the available updates, and suggests to open the update manager, but synaptic is already opened.
