Solution in post 294 fixed the problem on our (many) Lenovo G40-30 laptops. Everything back to normal. Right now, I am installing another distro (Peppermint 8) until Ubuntu 17.10 iso is fixed.
Million thanks to those who fixed the issue without the need for any hardware repair or replacement. To those who say that it doesn't work, please check that the new kernel is installed without any errors. I had to go through the process twice. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1734147 Title: Ubuntu 17.10 corrupting BIOS - many LENOVO laptops models To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1734147/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
