I'm seeing this on Gutsy final. It seems to be dependent on the theme - (Applications -> settings -> user interface -> theme tab.) For example, "Human" causes the crash (BadAlloc, rather than the BadAccess mentioned in one report above), "MurrinaStormCloud" is OK.
