Same issue  (and same setup) here. As reinstalling virtualbox-ose fixes
it, I assume the issue causing this is that the "vboxusers" group is
created by virtualbox-ose and is required by virtualbox-ose-
modules-2.6.22-14-generic but the modules are setup before the userspace
tools, and thus this group does not exist.

Nevertheless, the error message "chown: `:vboxusers': invalid group"
also looks like there is a typo (double ':' maybe?) in the chown
invocation.
