Public bug reported:

When I upgraded Xubuntu from 6.06 to 6.10 the screen was locked (as
normal). My password was refused. When their seemed to be no more
activity I turned the pc off. After restart some packages appeared to be
broken.

Should screen saver not be turned off manually or automattically during
upgrades, etc.?
