The same issue was filed by me last September:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/putty/+bug/1718054

I copy here some additional info from there:

- Installed .DEB packages of Putty (v. 0.67) from Ubuntu 16.04, work
flawlessly.

- tried to run with sudo the putty 0.70 executable and it works without
crashing. Command:
  sudo -u MY_NAME ./putty

Anyway here it seems that more info are available. Should I mark my bug
as a duplicate of this one?

Kind regards
Aldo
