I think the problem is with the nvidia-glx-new plugin that Ubuntu is using.
I have manage to get my monitor to work by re-installing Feisty, downloading
all the updates , and install Feisty's nvidia plugin. Once I have my
resolution set at 1680x1050 I did a dist-upgrade. The only problem with this
method is that Compiz Fusions kind of sucks because you are using Feisty
version and not Gusty. For now, I am back on Feisty until nvidia plugin
problem is solved.**
