i went to the ati website and tried they're drivers but it said all they had was the x-86 and the x-86_64. Niether one would let me install them both opened with the Gedit program and said "Could not open the file" "gedit has not been able to detect the character coding. please check that you are not trying topen a binary file. select coding from the menu and try again." So i don't know whats up with that... and i keep reading online that theyre is a open source driver i can use that will alow me to use the 3d graphix and be able to change resolution without any problem. I went into the restricted drivers section and the only one available was the ati accelerated graphics driver so i enabled that and now the only resolutions are really low ones.... the current driver i am using at the moment is the vesa- Generic VESA-compliant video cars driver which it selected...... But if i restart that it won't like the 3d enabled and i'll have to disable that.. So now i have everything on 800X600 res or 640x480 but my monitor is 22" and is capable of much much greater....anyways please help

Please check if switching to another driver solves the problem. Also go to System -> Administration -> Restricted Drivers Management (not sure if this is the right translation) to check if there's any proprietary driver available. -- screen wont allow resolutions but the highest resolution https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155910 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
