Confirming.  Lenovo T61 with intel 965GM, displayconfig-gtk detects two
"VESA" cards (although it does show one using the intel driver in the
dropdown).  I also see three screens on the first tab, two of which are
shown as disabled (which is bogus, since I *am* using dual-head right
now).

I'm attaching my xorg.conf.

Here's the xrandr output (after I manually did xrandr --output VGA
--auto --above LVDS):
