I have the similar problem : System freeze on boot just after checking File System. When I do "Alt-F1", I see : "kinit : trying to resume from /dev/..... kinit : No resume image, doing normal boot"
I have this bug with Ubuntu Gutsy (x64) and kubuntu Gutsy (i586).
