Btw. getting the driver list from X seems to be easy. When running `X -configure`, it will print the list of available drivers; and this list is obtained basically by just looking at the names of all *_drv.so (and *_drv.o) files under /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/ . So that might be a way to replace the hardcoded driver list in Guidance.
