I keep getting the same error when trying to install any kernel on my
17.2 Rafaela. The error happens regardless of how I try to install the
kernel; manual install or install attempted through Update Manager both
end up with the same error:

var/lib/dkms/ndiswrapper/1.59/build/ndis.c:441:3: error: implicit declaration
of function ‘strnicmp’ [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
   if (strnicmp(keyname, setting->name, length) == 0) {

My Rafaela was installed cleanly, it was not an upgrade.

This seems to be the same bug reported and allegedly solved in May in Ubuntu
