This bug is present in  Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy) too. CPU Frequency Scaling
works by using cpufreq-selector command. System starts in a "dynamic"
mode - CPU frequency is 50% unless needed more, but nowhere this
information is shown. I think this is a bug too - user should know in
what mode CPU works.

It is new installation of Ubuntu 7.10 i386 on Dell Inspiron 6400 with Intel 
Core 2 Duo.
uname: Linux ubuntu-pc 2.6.22-14-generic #1 SMP Sun Oct 14 23:05:12 GMT 2007 
i686 GNU/Linux
