Ok, I've found the .gtk-bookmarks, I'm attaching it. I don't have "/home/username/file:/home" listed in .gtk-bookmarks. I have "file:///home" listed in it.
Did you try to bookmark your /home directory (not /home/username) and then create "/home/username/file:/home" and then click on places->home?
