Public bug reported:

We worked 16.11.2 into Debian (experimental for now).
This will soon change and go to unstable as well now that Stretch got released,
but sync in the stable release now to have better reliability when testing .

Further more this contains various great packaging improvements.
Among others the final cleanup of the transition workaround we needed (next
version will use MAJOR_ABI and this one doesn't need the crutch workarounds
anymore).
