Hi, I have the first mentioned behaviour, too. Clicking on "split view" blows up the right panel to a huge width.
Another strange thing: When I click on "split view" several times, then every time the right panel has a different size afterwards! Some details about my Ubuntu installation: I've upgraded today from Feisty to Gutsy. Kubuntu AMD64.
