Public bug reported:

I booted from usb (formatted by Rufus) Ubuntu 16.04. Try ran perfectly
(and still does!) so I decided to undertake a clean installation
deleting all existing information. The installation commences with the
progress bar getting to about 30% before the error message appears. Te
installation log was automatically submitted.
