To make my workaround permanent, I tried adding the following lines to /etc/network/interfaces:
auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp Weirdly, this hosed my system to the point it could no longer boot to login screen. It got totaly stuck at configuring eth0 (no matter if the cable was connected or not). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1689261 Title: Network manager says my USB-based ethernet devices are not supported, though I can connect manually To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1689261/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
