Yes, I've seen this as well in the Gutsy final release I just upgraded to last night. vmware-server 1.0.3 will not run in Gutsy because of the kernel modules mismatch.
Workaround: 1. Back up your license file found in: /etc/vmware/license.vs.1.0-00 or at least save the serial contained in that file somewhere. 2. Uninstall vmware-server 1.0.3 including purging all configuration. 3. Make sure you have the package build-essential 4. Download vmware-server 1.0.4 directly from http://vmware.com/download/server/ 5. Unpack and run vmware-install.pl, usually it is fine to accept all defaults, and enter the license key from step 1. and you should be back up and running. m. -- vmware server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/133020 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
