For those who want a viable workaround instead of political wars I managed to make 3d + compiz fusion + gutsy + fglrx working on my T41p with ATI Mobility T2 using the following steps:
1) get 2.6.20-16-generic linux-image and linux-headers from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux-source-2.6.20/ 2) dpkg -i install them, you will also need linux-headers-2.6.20-16 to satisfy dependencies 3) update-grub as root to get 2.6.20-16-generic to the boot menu reboot to 2.6.20-16-generic 4) apt-get source linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-14-generic 5) cd linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-2.6.22.4/ 6) sudo sh ./ati-driver-installer-8.37.6-x86.x86_64.run and install the fglrx version by pressing enter and following the instructions onscreen reboot again and you should have 3d + compiz ready of course don't forget to apt-get install xserver-xgl -- [gutsy] fglrx breaks over suspend/resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121653 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
