I found this bug to be related to "Fix stripping packages (use bash instead of expr substring).", (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openjdk/openjdk/openjdk7/revision/600, http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~openjdk/openjdk/openjdk8/revision/661).
On openjdk-7 rebuilding the source packages with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS='nostrip' I was able to do heapdumps. On openjdk-8 installing the openjdk-8-dbg package makes the required symbols available, but does require a lot more disk space. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1548434 Title: jmap -heap broken since update to 7u95-2.6.4-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openjdk-7/+bug/1548434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
