Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: uim

Despite the uim-byeoru package being installed, I cannot select it as an
input method. It does not appear in the uim-pref-gtk gui or anywhere
else. This was working at some point, but I cannot get it back to a
working state again now -- sorry for being so vague.

Running uim and uim-byeoru versions 1.4.1-5 on Ubuntu Gutsy, latest as
of 10/16. Anthy and various Japanese input methods work flawlessly, as
well as the uim-hangul package. Upgraded to Gusty from Fiesty without a
clean install -- right over the top, retained prefs and such.

This is my first bug report (ever), so I'll be glad to provide anything
I missed, just ask!
