Addendum: I can set the ESSID with the network interface applet, (shows up in ESSID and encryption key field of eth1, but no change in any other field. In roaming mode, I cannot see any other wireless network in the area, and I could find 3 to 5 networks (some encrypted, some not) using the same laptop under feisty when I enable roaming mode.
