I am sorry, I am not able to reproduce the error anymore. The installer is now copying files as it should four boots in row with the same CD (7.10RC) and the same hardware setup... I am surprised by this as I rebooted before whereafter the error persisted.
I nevertheless attached /var/log/syslog, because I do not know of what importance the information in syslog is to you (maybe only background information of the system's hardware).
