This would indicate that the bug was introduced by a SAUCE patch in Trusty. We also know that this bug is fixed in Xenial, so there is another patch that fixes this regression that has not made it into Trusty.
I think the next step should be to identify the patch in Xenial and backport it to Trusty. Can you test the 3.19 based Vivid kernel?
