Can you attach your /var/log/syslog from the time and .cache/upstart/media-hub.log Unfortunately it seems that the speakers are muted at a lower level, or perhaps that the device thinks headphones are enabled. One other thing is to ensure it does not think its paired with a bluetooth audio output device.
