Got the same problem, at least with gusy beta. I haven´t tried with kubuntu RC1 i386 yet, but I suppose the same problem will arise. Got a laptop with AMD64 x2 TL-56 and nvidia geforce 7300 Acer Aspire 9304. I will try to install 64-bit OS and see if the problem persist.
