There are actually two differences between standard gutsy and what I tested. First, there's the patch. Second, it a different version of the fglrx package - 8.41.7 vs 8.37.6.
It's quite possible that the suspend issue is fixed by using the latest module in combination with the patch. There could be a completely separate issue causing my resume to fail OR it could be a issue with 8.41.7 in combination with gutsy. I would think it most likely to be the latter. Now, I haven't stuck with 8.41.7 because there seems to be a bug with tv-out support and I require it.
