Public bug reported:

i installed a new kvm image of UC16 and issued a snap refresh for the
core snap from candidate channel. the command resulted in a segmentation
fault. after the fault, the kvm issued syslogs suggesting that the
device would undergo a reboot. after the reboot, core was updated to the
candidate channel with snapd at 2.18.1
