I am finishing the test with a persistent live system made with mkusb
after two nights.

I did not let mkusb change 'what to do, when security updates are
detected', so the corresponding system from the 16.04.1 LTS iso file
would perform unattended upgrades. The used drive space increased from
66 MiB to 88 MiB. I did not check which files were written, but I assume
some log files. This is far from the big increase of used space, when
the system performs unattended upgrades.

So I can confirm that the bugfix in casper works also in a persistent
live system. We can look forward to the next point release, Ubuntu
16.04.2 LTS, where it will be implemented. Today it is possible to grab
the Ubuntu Xenial daily iso file and make a live drive without
unattended upgrades :-)
