Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubiquity
This bug is on purpose a duplicate of Bug #145743 which was reported by another used on September 27, and to which I added confirmation and comments on October 6, but which didn't receive any further feedback or answer yet, so I would like to make it more visible at it looks release- critical to me. Sorry for the duplicate... Tried to install Kubuntu 7.10 Beta from CD 4 times on 2 rather standard machines (one laptop, one desktop, different architectures, different network connections, on a different day ;-) * The laptop completely from scratch (manually partitioning all disk, no other OS left) * The desktop having a Winsomething on it, manually partitioned keeping Windows. * Installing in French, standard installation. Everytime the install froze completely at exactly 87%, last thing that got displayed was "Downloading languages packs" which actually seemed to download files, but then the installation sat there with ubiquity eating 100% CPU for hours (I let it sit there a complete night to check if something might happen in the end, but it didn't...) with no message at all, no way to go beyond this except killing install, so I had to revert back to installing 7.04 feisty on those 2 machines. * I had controlled that the network connections for these 2 machines were actually up and properly running. This looks like a show-stopper to me, 5 days before the planned release date. Wouldn't be nice releasing a version that won't install on machines that aren't specially new or whatever... ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Kunbuntu 7.10 Beta ubiquity installer freezes at 87% https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152256 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
