I have a similar problem that has buggered me for the last few weeks which I have now investigated a little bit more:
ubuntu-desktop, kubuntu-desktop, and xubuntu-desktop all depends on slocate. ubuntu-minimal is depending on findutils. as a normal user probably likes to have one of the above mentioned desktop packages installed, they are flagged for slocate regardless of the fact that ubuntu-minimal, which is required to make a bootable system in a clean ubuntu fashion, rather uses findutils. It may well be that I may be able to uninstall findutils without any problems, but as I am using my Gutsy system as my main computer I do not want to try. -- As to my configuration: I did install a gutsy ubuntu server in July and then I added usefull packages (including ubuntu-desktop). Things worked nice until a 1 or 2 weeks ago. -- package findutils 4.2.31-1 failed to install/upgrade: tentative de remplacement de « /usr/bin/locate », qui appartient aussi au paquet slocate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152126 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
