Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx
When running the live CD of Ubuntu 7.10 Release Candidate I get in the restricted drivers screen the option of installing the Ati proprietary drivers for my ATI Radeon X1600. While running the live CD everything goes ok, I can modify the screen resolution and it all looks well. But when I install the distro to the hard disk and then reboot, I can't get the X working properly. I try to modify the xorg.cong manually by the vim way, but I get then a message telling that my graphics card model cannot be detected. And if I try to select my graphics card model in the list, the X breaks. I managed to run Ubuntu in a low graphics mode, and I have installed the proprietary driver again, then I'm told to reboot the computer, and when Ubuntu starts again I get the same problem: it seems that my graphics card isn't detected once again and I have to run it in the low graphics mode. ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ati driver does not work/Ati card not recognized https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152136 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
