Installed Ubuntu 14.04 from filsd (thank you for sharing that btw) on my i7
Inspiron and:
- in powertop cpu lowest level is C3 as the kernel 3.19 does not fully support
Skylake power management
- psensor shows that fan were spinning crazy at 5k rpm but cpu/gpu temp was
about +28C even after hour of idle system
Maybe there are some drivers need to be installed (list of drivers is pretty
huge) but I didn't know what to install, I'll try to play with that, but I'm
getting pretty skeptic.
Overall I am wondering how this distro can work smoothly with such old kernel
which does not fully support Skylake powermanagement on such new HW, but as
I've mentioned somewhere: a friend of mine he has this laptop with i5 and even
newer kernels work just fine and fans are switching off, although not as often
as on windows so it might be really something with i7 vs i5 cpu.
