I created an Ubuntu USB disk using usb-creator-gtk using the Xenial daily iso from 20161025. I booted the usb disk and discovered that all the settings are as they should be and running unattended-upgrades does nothing. I'm marking this as verification done as mkusb is not a tool which is included in the Ubuntu archives.
