One can interactively install with vlan_id without changing any boot params.
1) During installation, exit to the main menu with '<' 2) Choose to change debconf priority to medium 3) Go back and continue installation Doing that at the very begging of installation (e.g. before activating any qeth devices). The vlan_id is a medium priority question.
