Alongside your test, ventrical, I started a test using the Ubuntu amd64 current daily iso file (dated 20161009). I created a *persistent live* drive with mkusb (and selected not to use the mkusb tweak to stop unattended upgrades). I'm looking forward to the result tomorrow, if there are any unattended upgrades.
