The fix is committed to yakkety branch of d-i and will be included in the next yakkety upload. However, there is no change of behaviour in yakkety at all. As point versions are only used in LTS releases / SRUs. I guess I can make the next upload to have a weird version number to test this in yakkety.
** Description changed: - .disk/mini-info is the same for GA and SRU d-i builds - however, it is in practice an arbitrary string and a full version number can be used. - This way one can inspect .disk/mini-info and /var/log/installer/status to figure out which d-i build the installation was done from. + [Impact] + + * d-i build does not contain a full version number, thus impossible to + identify which build a mini.ios, pxeboot, netboot builds belong to prior + or after the install. + + * this makes it impossible to tell apart SRU builds of d-i + + * The fix is to include a full version string, instead of stripped one, + during build + + [Test Case] + + * Unpack mini-iso, verify that .disk/mini-info has a full version + string including training .N number. + + * Install system and check that debian-installer package in + /var/log/installer/status has full version number including training .N + number + + [Regression Potential] + + * minimal, the version/buildstamp used is an arbitrary string, sans + trailing .N number. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1628149 Title: .disk/mini-info is the same for GA and SRU d-i builds To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/debian-installer/+bug/1628149/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
